One cannot expect much for just above 4 Euro (unless one is in Styria), but Orthof was a strange exception. Here the price of a Krügerl and a Pfiff (less, actually) brings you a wooden plate very full with Geselchtes, Speck, ham, blood sausage, Extrawurst, salami, good pork jelly, and some surprisingly tasty spread and unsurprisingly tasteless cheese to go with it. None of the above looked un-industrial – in fact any Brettljause containing Extrawurst is suspicious by definition – but all the ingredients were highly edible, and I truly appreciated the lack of liver or any other undesired “specialties.”

The dish also arrived with a super-industrial and cheap tube of mustard, but at least there was no lack of it. Unfortunately, instead of dark bread it was served with two Semmeln (one included in the price) and the horseradish was sadly missing, but all things considered, it was a perfectly acceptable and enjoyable Jause. It would have also been for double the price.
