Don’t be fooled by this dish’s impressive description in the menu or by its hefty price tag. Don’t expect a Brettljause-like alternative to a steak or a burger. Instead, Antipasti Primi belongs firmly in the category it is listed under: it’s a starter, and a pretty tiny one, too.

Quoting the menu, the wooden board that I got featured “chorizo, felino, prosciutto, selection of Italian cheeses” and some pickles. I can confirm that the three sausage types were indeed there, about five slices of each. There was also something whitish or yellowish that must have been different cheeses, but the quantity was such that I could not really judge the taste, let alone name the sorts. In fact, most mice would have found such a portion insufficient. Reading the description of the dish in the menu took longer than finishing it.

Worse still, this combination of meats, cheeses and pickles just did not work together. Not a single ingredient made me think “wow” and long for more. It’s served on board, yes, but it’s less enjoyable than some of the most industrial Brettljausen. Incidentally, Primi’s Bruschetta is not great either. The restaurant is quite impressive, though – perhaps going there for a pizza or a pasta is a better idea.
