Exactly one year since the last visit Schiefer Giebel still shines as an unsurpassed goose master. As before, the goose has been perfectly prepared, being obviously cooked just for us and reaching the optimal state just on time for our arrival. Again, it came with a separate jug of goose fat/juice as well as plates of berries and red cabbage (slightly on a sour side this year, but still going very well with the meat). Even the dumpling was edible, and that is quite an achievement.
Unfortunately, the negative points from the last year remained as well, the main one being that the portions could have been bigger. In addition, the restaurant is all but useless for anything except goose, and that includes wine, Sturm, and to a lesser extent Schnapps. The pork meat at the buffet looked as if it stayed there for a year at least, and the desserts, while not so ancient, did not taste especially fresh either.
Still, if you are searching for one good goose experience in a year, Schiefer Giebel remains a very safe bet.
