Here is a situation where the expectations were a bit too high. Located close to the Myrafälle waterfalls, Karnerwirt has the potential to serve a really good Brettljause. The surroundings are rural enough, with quite a few farms around; the clientele are almost exclusively hikers who must know a good Brettljause; finally the restaurant is easily reachable by car, so there should be no delivery problems.
The truth was, the Brettljause was quite underwhelming. The cheese and the fatty round sausage (a Wiener, I would guess) were looking industrial, the horseradish and the mustard as well. The Pfefferoni, which is never welcome, was simply sad. The Blutwurst came as a one-third of a long sausage, not as slices and did not surprise with its taste. Removing its thin skin was also somehow annoying. The pork jelly was generally tasteless, and I am not a bit fan of it anyway. However, the ham and the Speck came in thick slices and managed to improve the overall experience considerably. At the end, the Jause turned out filling and overall quite enjoyable.
