Nice Place, Unexceptional Food

Located in the woods half way between Vienna and Tulln, this large restaurant has a long list of Jausenbrote in its menu, so the expectations for a good Brettljause were quite high. At least some effort went into arranging the slices on the Brettl, but in essence the end product was quite boring. It contained four types of wursties, a standard cheese, some butter (too cold to be cut properly) plus the obligatory Salzgurke, mustard and horseradish. Everything quite certainly came from a supermarket, but possibly was cut in the kitchen – some sausage slices were reassuringly thick. Still, such a Brettljause can easily be made at home in five minutes and at half the price. No incentive to go back there.
