Neu Brasilien has been off my radar for a few years after a number of disappointing lunches with dull and overpriced dishes. For that reason, I do not know when a Brettljause was added to their menu, but when I saw it, I obviously had to try.
I won’t make the same mistake again. The wooden board with a small glass of Schnapps in the middle was the only thing that reminded me of a proper Brettljause. Well, the tasteless Speck and an even more bland spread could be (sort of) accepted, too, but whoever decided that a warm breaded black pudding and a few warm breaded meatballs belong to a Brettljause is certainly a very confused person.
Nothing on this mega-expensive (more than 12 Euro) Brettl was good, not even the horseradish, the olives and the pickles. Even the white bread was stale. Neu Brasilien is a fine place to spend a late evening with a glass of wine by the water, but please stay away from their food.
