When a restaurant announces that it has extended its goose season, it is generally not a good sign. It is an even worse sign when the restaurant is almost empty at 19:00 on a Saturday and no one except you is eating a goose.
Bad omens aside, it was an acceptable goose. A bit grayish on the outside and very grayish inside, it was still quite juicy and occasionally enjoyable (when the teeth found some crispy skin). Featuring a leg and two slices from the breast, it was big enough without being too much. The red cabbage was, frankly, extremely boring, and the dumpling extremely average.
The restaurant itself is a bit on a “hardcore Viennese” side, and its location near the Praterstern is unexciting at best. It is difficult to recommend it, unless one really needs to eat a goose, and all no other restaurants have “extended the season.”
